The left menu on desktop — from the top
Section titled “The left menu on desktop — from the top”The sidebar on the left of the screen shows, from the top, the organization switcher, Home, Notifications, and Chat, followed by the features you pinned in “Other features” (at first, Members and Ranking), and finally More. In some organizations, “Goals” also appears below Home. Your own icon is at the very bottom (→ “5. More” below). While you have a challenge you haven’t finished, “Challenges” also appears below Chat.
- Organization switcher (the organization icon at the very top) — Press it to open the list of organizations you belong to, and pick one to switch to it. “Create a new organization” is here too. If an invitation from another organization has arrived, it’s listed under “Pending invitations” at the bottom of the list
- Your own icon (at the very bottom) — Shows your name (profile), “Complete setup” (settings you haven’t finished yet; the count also appears on the icon), “My Settings” (Profile, Notifications, Display & language, and more), “Organization settings” (admins only), “More Addness,” and “Log out.” Your profile, My Settings, and Organization settings open in a new in-app tab
- Hiding sidebar items — Right-click “Goals”, “Notifications”, “Chat”, “Challenges”, or a pinned feature and choose “Hide from sidebar” to hide it (Home can’t be hidden). Hidden items are listed under “Hidden from sidebar” on the “Other features” page (More), where you can put them back. Hiding a pinned feature removes its pin (you can pin it again from “Other features”)
Add-ons
Support & account
The four you use most sit at the top. Other features are on the "Other features" page opened from "More," and pinning one puts it in the sidebar
1. Home
Section titled “1. Home”The center of daily execution. Your ToDos are listed here, and you open your own goal tree with “See all ToDos.” Due dates are visible as a badge on each row. Adding, decomposing, and completing goals, and handing one to the AI with Addness it on the row, are all done here (→ Home). When a red badge appears on “Home” in the sidebar (on a phone, the bar at the bottom of the screen), the number is how many of your AI items are waiting for your confirmation.
2. Notifications
Section titled “2. Notifications”Where you notice changes that affect your goals. @mentions, thread replies, and goal updates gather here, and a red badge appears when there’s something unread. Clear them from the top with “Mark as read” (→ Notifications page).
3. Chat
Section titled “3. Chat”Where goal chats, groups, and DMs gather. The list on the left is split into the Pinned / Channels / Goals / Direct messages sections. Network conversations that span organizations are opened not in Chat but from Network’s “Message”. A goal’s chat is the same thing as the goal’s comments. Unread is shown with a badge (→ Chat page).
4. Members
Section titled “4. Members”Where you see the whole team. “Members” in the sidebar is an item that’s pinned from the start. If you unpin it, it disappears from the sidebar and you open it from “Other features.” You can switch to “Org chart” or “Relationships,” and see who’s doing what, their ToDos, and activity history. You also “Invite” new members from here. Only admins can create invite links (→ Members list page).
5. More (…)
Section titled “5. More (…)”Press “More” and the “Other features” page opens. It has the following groups, from the top.
- Pinned — The features you’ve pinned
- Hidden from sidebar — Items you hid from the sidebar are listed here only while they’re hidden. The button at the top right of the card (“Show ◯◯ in sidebar”) puts one back
- Hidden from menu bar — Items you hid from the menu bar at the top right are listed here only while they’re hidden, as “Show ◯◯ in menu bar” buttons
- Work with your team — Members, Ranking, Network, and Virtual Space are listed here
- Streamline your work — Templates, Knowledge, Mind maps, and Forms are listed here
- Store your data — Drive, Meeting notes, Recordings, Audio recordings, File Send, and Databases are listed here
- Automate your results — Customer Management, Customer journeys, and Analytics are listed here
- Know yourself — My Page, Usage report, Journal, and Challenges are listed here
- Opens when you finish a challenge — Features that haven’t opened yet gather here (newly created organizations only)
- AI and automation — MCP (connect the AI you already use)
- Support & account — “Ask staff live (Japanese)”, Help, Announcements, My Settings, and “Organization settings” (shown only to admins)
- More Addness — Links to Addness’s other products, diagnosis, and the community
In a newly created organization, the card of a feature that hasn’t opened yet carries “Open with a challenge” and sits in the “Opens when you finish a challenge” group. Once you finish that challenge or press “Skip and use it (no points),” the feature becomes available and moves back to its original group (→ Challenges and feature locks).
Press the button at the top right of a card (“About ◯◯”) to open when you’d use that feature and what you can do together with the AI. From there you can hand it to the AI with “Addness with this feature” or open this Help’s article with “Help article.”
Here are the main features.
- Knowledge — Keeps your organization’s ways of working, so members and the AI read the same thing (→ Knowledge)
- Templates — Reuse the organization’s goal trees (→ Templates page)
- Mind maps — A canvas to branch out and write down your ideas. Share it with members and edit together (→ Mind map)
- Drive — The organization’s material store. Goal resources, minutes, screen recordings, and uploads gather here (→ Drive)
- Customer Management — The customer list (CRM). See what stage customers are at in a table and have the AI carry out the next move (→ Customer list (CRM))
- Analytics — A dashboard you build by talking to the AI, refreshed every morning (→ Analytics)
- Customer journeys — Lay out, in steps, the path a customer takes to reach the goal, and the AI carries out the actions every day (→ Customer journeys)
- Databases — A table where you decide the rows and columns yourself. Use it to gather daily numbers and ledgers (→ Databases)
- My Page — One screen to check your introduction, diagnosis, and what you’ve built up (→ My Page)
- Usage report — See how much Addness is being used, in numbers updated every morning. Everyone except guests can see “Me,” and admins can see the whole organization (→ Usage report)
- File Send — Hand a large file to someone via a share link. Opens in a new browser tab (→ File Send)
- Network — Where you can check public profiles, posts and activity, search for people and organizations, rankings, and job openings. Opens in a new browser tab (→ Addness Network)
- Virtual Space — A place where you gather on the same floor as avatars and can talk to people on the spot. Opens in a different browser tab (→ Virtual Space)
Pinning: Pin a feature with the pin button on a feature’s card (“Pin”). Pinned features go into the “Pinned” group, and on desktop they also appear in the left sidebar between “Chat” and “More.” You can pin up to 5. On desktop, the pin button appears when you hover over a card (on touch devices such as phones, it’s always shown). To unpin a feature, press “Unpin” in the same place.
- Pins are saved per browser. They don’t carry over to another computer or browser
- Pinned features don’t appear in the navigation at the bottom of the screen on mobile (only Members appears in the bottom navigation while it’s pinned)
- Help and Organization settings can’t be pinned
Open the Meeting notes list from Meeting notes under More → Store your data. Pin Meeting notes to open it from the desktop sidebar or the main features on a new tab, too. You can also use “Open meeting notes” in the completion notification (→ Meetings and minutes).
The buttons at the top right (desktop)
Section titled “The buttons at the top right (desktop)”At the top right of the screen are the “Recording, audio, meetings & notes” button, “Support”, My level, Daily missions, and Streak 🔥. Press “Recording, audio, meetings & notes” to start a “Record” (screen recording), “Audio” (audio only), or “Meeting” (a meeting with notes that isn’t tied to a goal). It also appears at the top of the screen on mobile. Screen recording can’t be started if your device doesn’t support it (record from a browser on a computer). Meetings can’t be started from a mobile browser (start them from the Addness app or a browser on a computer) (→ Screen recording · Meetings and minutes). Press “Meeting notes” to open the request form for a bot to join a Google Meet, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams meeting and create meeting notes. “Support” is Addness Live, where staff answer questions live (in Japanese; opens YouTube). My level is explained in Proficiency level and points, and Daily missions shows progress on the day’s missions. Except for the streak, these can be hidden under My Settings › “Display & language” › “Menu bar” (you can also long-press at the top right to edit).
Your first setup is done on the setup screen that opens when you finish signing up (→ Home). For steps starting from installing the AI app, see Install an AI app and connect it to Addness.
In-app tabs (desktop)
Section titled “In-app tabs (desktop)”In the very top row of the screen (the header), a tab strip like a browser’s tabs appears. It’s the mechanism for keeping multiple pages open inside Addness. Tabs showing goals (the goal detail page or Everyone’s goals) keep their scroll position and expanded state even when you switch tabs.
Tabs are added mainly with these actions.
- When you press the “Everyone’s goals” button at the top right of Home (in an organization where you are the only member, the button is named “Goal tree”)
- When you press the “View goal details” icon at the right end of a goal row (the goal detail page opens in a new tab)
- When you open your profile, “My Settings,” or “Organization settings” from the menu on your own icon at the bottom left
- When you press the ”+” at the right end of the strip (“Open new tab”). From “Choose what to open,” you can pick “Main features” (Home, Notifications, Chat, and the features you pinned) or features from the same groups as “Other features.” You can also open one from “Recently viewed goals” (up to 6) below that
- When you click a link inside Addness with the mouse wheel (middle-click)
- When you open from a link outside Addness, such as Slack or email
Ordinary links in the sidebar or within a page navigate within the tab you’re viewing (no tab is added). Hold ⌘ (Ctrl on Windows) while clicking to open the link in a new browser tab instead of an in-app tab. Help doesn’t open in an in-app tab.
Reorder tabs by dragging, and close them with the × at the right end. Close them all and a single new tab remains. There can be up to 8 tabs; beyond that, the oldest tab other than the one you’re viewing closes automatically and a notice appears. This strip doesn’t appear on mobile.
On mobile
Section titled “On mobile”- The navigation at the bottom of the screen has these icons, from the left: Chat, Notifications, Home, Members, More (Members appears only while it’s pinned. In some organizations, Goals also appears at the far left). Press “More” and the same “Other features” page as on desktop opens
- Scroll down and the header at the top and the navigation at the bottom hide. Scroll up and they come back
- Open the menu (≡) at the top left. At the very top is a separate “Complete setup” link (a count appears at its right end when settings are still unfinished), and below it you can switch organizations. Further down, “More” lists Ask staff live (Japanese), My Page, Drive, File Send, Knowledge, Forms, Customer Management, Analytics, Databases, Mind maps, Templates, Network, Help, and Organization settings (admins only), followed by “More Addness.” From “My Settings” at the very bottom, you can open pages such as Profile, Notifications, and Display & language. You can also log out from the menu
- Usage report isn’t in the ≡ menu. Open it from “More” → “Other features”
- Pinned features don’t appear in the bottom navigation (they appear under “Pinned” in “Other features”)
- In-app tabs are desktop-only
